There, I've said it. Christmas. Sincere apologies to the seasonally sensitive among you.
Now there are mitigating circumstances in that we were asked to give plenty of notice of our much-loved Christmas Wine Fair this year in order to allow groups in particular to get organised for the night. So here are the details:
WHAT? Cases Wine Warehouse Christmas Wine Fair.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: More than 120 wines will be available for tasting on the night, plus a whole range of Irish artisan beers from the likes of Galway Hooker, O'Hara's, Dungarvan Brewing and 8 Degrees from Mitchelstown. The night will be ideal for anyone keen on learning more about wine. What we'd suggest is that you pick a grape or two (Say Shiraz, or Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay) and try as many wines as you can manage of that grape. This will give you a really good idea of all the styles out there and enhance your ability to buy wisely in the future. Alternatively, you can try as many different and unusual wines as possible to expand your horizons. Or you can just come along for a great, great value, fun night out. We will also be holding our annual blind tasting competition on the night. Last year this ended in a dead heat that had to be decided in a nail-biting taste-off! There will also be live music and appetisers supplied by Cava, arguably Ireland's best tapas restaurant.
WHEN? 6.30pm to 10.00pm, Thursday 17th November 2011 WHERE? At Cases Wine Warehouse on the Tuam Road, Galway.
WHY? Firstly, it's in advance of all those Christmas buying decisions and secondly, it's in aid of Self Help Africa, our nominated charity of the year. Last year we raised over €4,000 for Console, and we hope to better that this year.
