In the meantime, those of you who have been on our email list for any period of time will be well aware that we are fascinated by biodynamic wines here at Cases. These are wines that are produced according to lunar cycles. And now, a recent flood of opinion in the wine trade has asserted that all wines vary their taste according to the Lunar calendar as well! Now before you switch off, it might be worth considering that both Tesco and Marks & Spencer in the UK now only hold tastings for wine critics on days when, according to the lunar calendar, the wines will be at their best. Without getting bogged down in detail, the days of the year are split into fruit, flower, leaf and root days and a consensus is developing in some quarters that all wines (not just biodynamically produced ones) taste better on fruit and flower days and are not at their best on leaf or root days. So they recommend that you save the special wines for the auspicious days. We're going to test this thesis on Friday and Saturday of this week at Cases. We've got hold of the 2010 Biodynmaic Calendar for Wine Drinkers by biodynamic legends Maria & Matthias Thun and this Friday 16th is a fruit Day and Saturday is a Root day. We're going to taste a red and a white on both days and compare the results. If anyone would like to get involved in this experiment, please call in! And if you want more details on the Calendar, just give us a shout.
Kind regards,
Peter
